Photovoltaic cells are increasing in efficiency, but decreasing in cost although they are still the same old black squares placed on solar panels in an array format, but now they are able to concentrate energy to a particular point in a much better manner. The reason behind the low costs of the photovoltaic cells today is that they have now become smaller in size but espite this, their efficiency has increased. The price of solar power energy has reached the price of per hour per watt. That price was double less than two decades back.

There’s no question about how environment-friendly solar powered electricity generation is. Solar energy uses the most natural of sources for its production: the sun which releases no harmful emissions into the environment and is considered to be an excellent alternative source of energy. Solar cells are today very popular fixtures on people’s home rooftops. Whether it is for heating your home or heating water or producing electricity for the home, you will find that these devices are quite simple to use. Water is allowed to flow inside the cells of the photovoltaic cells, where it gets heated and is supplied to your home.
Photovoltaic cells of today enable you to gather heat from the sun and store it even if the sky is full of clouds or if there is a storm brewing. By engineering cells that can absorb sunlight on bright days and store it, it allows the cells to be functional even on days when the weather is cloudy.
Solar energy can be gathered and utilized by another system known as the PV system. An attachment is made from the PV system to the least distant electric grid so assuming a home produces more electricity than it needs, this is absorbed into the grid, which uses the electricity on its network and with such a source, the dependence of the grid on other power sources decreases. By providing such a network, the PV system allows you to use a cheap environment friendly source of energy and itself works without much pressure on it. Some areas are designing centralized solar collection arrays for small towns or suburban communities.
Several reputed corporations have indicated their deep interest into solar energy production on a large scale and this clearly shows how the world is accepting solar power as a sustainable source of energy. 6 megawatt system on the roof of its corporate headquarters and soon, Wal-Mart is going to add a 100 megawatt plant of its own.
The American, German, Swiss and Japanese governments are among the few governments of the world that are providing tax breaks and subsidies to the individual persons or corporate entities that are using solar power for their thermal and electrical needs. By checking out the new inventions in the solar trapping technology, new investors will want to cash in on the technology and make profits with it and this will only bring in more popularity to solar power generation.
